Client Spotlight: BLCKBUTTERFLY
Working with BLCKBUTTERFLY means stepping into a world that cannot be contained. Michael McCloud, a queer Black creative director, musician, and stylist, creates from instinct and memory. His work moves between sound, image, and identity with a rhythm that feels cosmic. Every project is a conversation between who he is and what he imagines the future to be.
BLCKBUTTERFLY is not just a studio name. It is a manifesto. It exists to empower Black and LGBTQ+ artists to transform pain into power. Each creation acts as a portal, built to be tailored, textured, and unforgettable. Through color, light, and storytelling, Michael expands what it means to make art from authenticity.
When Ours Studio entered this collaboration, the goal was never to define BLCKBUTTERFLY. The goal was to understand it. We studied the energy already present in his work. Electric blue became the anchor. Holographic surfaces and glitch shimmer revealed the tension between beauty and chaos. Every visual held both ritual and rebellion.
BLCKBUTTERFLY lives in motion. It speaks through transformation, through the feeling of becoming. The work blurs lines between technology and emotion, between dream and documentation. It is mythic and digital, personal and universal.
For Ours Studio, this project reminded us of what design can do when it listens first. We were not creating a brand. We were translating a frequency. The process became a study in creative trust, collaboration, and cultural translation.
BLCKBUTTERFLY is not an identity that sits still. It evolves, refracts, and returns brighter each time. It reminds us that clarity can exist within movement, that power can coexist with tenderness, and that truth will always find new forms.
BLCKBUTTERFLY is not a brand to be owned. It is a frequency to be felt.
